How to Create a Collage Effect in Photoshop
Here, you will learn on how to create a collage effect with photo edit in Photoshop. I hope it will help you both the beginner level and advanced level of students in a great deal.
First of all, select an image in order to make a collage effect. At first, right click on the background layer and duplicate the layer. Then un-check the background and background copy and after that create a new layer. Now, select two colors you would like to use as a background with the use of both foreground and background. Select the gradient tool from the toolbar and blend the two selected colors together to make a background. Now, move layer 1 under background copy and make sure that the background copy is checked. Click on background copy and select the rectangular tool. Create a rectangle with it and this will be the start of the image overlay. When done, right click on rectangle 1 and select ‘Rasterize’ layer. Right click on rectangle 1 and select duplicate layer. Right click on rectangle 1 copy and select blending options. Click on color overlay and change the color to white and press OK. In order to make things easier, you can rename the white rectangle as white and black rectangle as black. Now, move the black layer above the white layer. Hold the white layer with Ctrl key as it helps to select the pixels. Then, right click on the selection and choose free transform. By holding the Alt and Shift key, you can re-size the image with losing its shape. Now, move the background copy above the black layer. Then, right click on the background copy and select ‘Create Clipping Mask.’ In order to place and move the created image, hold Ctrl and select the black and white layer. You can use move tool to move the image.

To create another picture, you have to hold Ctrl down and select all three layers that of background copy, black layer and white layer. Right click on one of those selected layers and duplicate the layer. You must have black layer and white layer selected only. Hence, hold Ctrl down and click on background copy to de-select the background copy. After that, use the move tool to move. To rotate the image, right click on the image and select free transform with the use of rectangular marquee tool. In order to add more images, do the same as before.
