How to Create a Sparkle Effect in Photoshop

In this tutorial, we will learn how to edit photos using a photo editing tool to create a sparkles effect. We will be creating a custom brush to apply photo effects for online photo editing.

At first, we will be creating a custom brush to apply photo effects by online photo editing using a photo editing tool. To create the brush, create a 200×200 document with a white background. Now, grab the Brush Tool and press D to quickly set the foreground color as black. To create the sparkle brush, start by going to the Brushes palette, clicking on Brush Presets and choosing Star 70 pixels brush from the list. To add the first sparkles, randomly click inside the document three or four times. Go back to the Brushes palette and select the Airbrush Soft Round 17 brush this time. Just like before, randomly click inside the document three or four times. We will now load some new brushes. To do so, go back to the Brushes palette and click on the small arrow at the top. A drop-down menu will open. Click on Assorted Brushed and then click Append to add the new brushes. Now, scroll down the list and select the ‘Starbust – Small brush.’ As before, randomly click inside the document three or four times to create more sparkles and add a little variety and save the brush. Go to Edit> Define Brush Preset and rename the brush as ‘Sparkle Brush.’

Now, open the image on which you will apply photo effects. Add a new layer by clicking on the New Layer option at the bottom of the Layers palette and name it ‘Sparkles.’ Grab the ‘Brush Tool’ and set white as the foreground color by pressing X. Now, go to the brushes palette, click on ‘Brush Presets’ if not selected and then select ‘Sparkles Brush’ which just created. Now, click on the words Shape Dynamics to access its options. Next, click on the words scattering to access its options. For both cases, remember to click on the words and not on the check box next to it. Now, click on Brush Tip Shape and use 50% as the value for Spacing. You can add sparkles according to your image. Now edit photos and make our sparkles effect a bit brighter by applying a little blur. First of all, duplicate the Sparkles layer by pressing Ctrl+J. Now, go to Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur and make adjustments. We just need to add enough blur to make a faint glow around the sparkles effect. Duplicate the Sparkles copy layer by pressing Ctrl+J to make the sparkles brighter. We will now add a little color to the glow around the sparkles effect. To do so, click on the Layer Styles option and select Outer Glow from the list that appears. That ends the process.

Hopefully this helps to you all! In this way, you can photo edit and create this sparkling effect. Hope that helps!
